"ALLEGORY ON HIGH HEELS"
28 October – 15 November 2006
Art gallery "Zelena kanapa", Lviv, Ukraine
Women, pictures and allegories on high heels…
…the same magic and misleading aspects of allegory can be found in woman. Woman is woman, on the other hand woman is always more than just a woman… How to show a woman? As a mother, a wife, a lover, a splash of color, a line, a symbol, an allegory? How? Where is the end of the work of art and how it is wholly finalized as a unity… How not to make a commodity from a woman, not to offend her, on contrary – to comprehend her and to understand why I see this phenomenon exactly this way. How to imagine a woman?
… Let us look at the high heel or as it sounds Galician dialect – "obcas". I do not believe that there are at least ten thinkers,
who will agree that this whimsical invention of civilization helps women to move around city, to contribute better and faster walking.
The majority of men obcas, as a very unusual form, invokes recollection and reminiscence about female grace and beauty.
The emotional feelings, connected to women convert into mental images, which work as "recollection about the recollection" in the painterly picture.
Visual obcas (high heel) of Alexander Voytovych – is allegory of woman. And the most paradoxical here is the fact, that obcas – is the truest female
thought it sounds unreal. Not without reason we think that…
…image of a woman is not what she really is… it pleasure! Please enjoy…
