Ecstasy - according to the dictionary it means the supreme degree of enjoyment and excitement.
And what do we imagine when we hear this word? The notions that come to our mind are contradictory.
So it is quite simple and at the same time it is not understood to the end. Have we ever experienced ecstasy ourselves? Or is this feeling not for everybody? And if it is not for everybody, maybe it is a sacred feeling.
You can feel ecstasy while looking at something, or while listening to something extraordinary. Ecstasy can be defined as an unbelievable sexual satisfaction or as the feeling of unity with the God, the feeling that the Saints experienced.
The " Ecstasy of Saint Theresa" by Bernini is still under discussion of art critics, they still argue about what was the main idea of this work of art. May be it is that our soul is not separated from our body. And we in our openness receive something special, our body reacts with extraordinary force.
It becomes light, transparent and luminous. So, a body is the only visible object that can show us the supreme degree of love – a love of a woman to a man, a love of a human being to God, a love of a creature to the Creator…
